The lean stack principle
Most operators bloat their Shopify store with 30+ apps inside a month — every shiny new feature, every "must have" recommendation, every blog-post-driven install. Half of them slow the site down. None of them move real money.
My stack is seven apps. No matter what brand I'm running, these seven are installed before I launch a single ad. Bundles, subscriptions, cart drawer, post-purchase upsells, order tracking, chargeback protection, analytics. That's it. Everything else is optional and gets added once the brand is validated.
This module is the seven apps, what each one does, and a deep-dive sub-page for each with the configuration that actually matters. Full setup walkthroughs are gatekept in the masterclass for every app.
The 7-app stack at a glance
| # | App | Job |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Kaching Bundles | Volume discount widget on the product page (buy 3 get 2 free) + subscription widget |
| 2 | Loop Subscriptions | Powers the subscription engine that Kaching's widget pulls from |
| 3 | UpCart | Cart drawer with trust badges, urgency timer, free gift mechanic |
| 4 | Zipify OCU | Post-purchase upsell funnels — the easiest free money in DTC |
| 5 | Parcel Panel | Order tracking, branded tracking page, drop-ship privacy |
| 6 | ChargeFlow | Chargeback protection — day-one critical, set up before ads go live |
| 7 | Microsoft Clarity | Heatmaps + session recordings — the most important conversion rate optimization tool |

Microsoft Clarity overlays every page with heatmaps + session recordingsEvery page in this flow is covered by an app in the stack. No gaps, no operator manual intervention. Set up once, runs forever.
When this stack goes live
Day one. Before your first ad runs.
Specifically:
- Kaching + Loop + UpCart — installed and configured before the store goes live
- Zipify OCU — funnels configured before the first checkout completes
- Parcel Panel — tracking page live before first fulfillment happens
- ChargeFlow — alerts configured the day ads go live (don't wait for the first chargeback to hit — by then it's too late to protect the processor)
- Microsoft Clarity — tracking code installed before first traffic hits the store
There's no "I'll set it up later" version of this stack. Operators who skip apps to launch faster end up rebuilding inside 60 days after they get burned by a chargeback streak, a Shopify audit, or a conversion rate problem they can't diagnose.
Why these seven
Each app on this list earns its place by directly moving revenue, protecting the brand, or generating optimization signal. I've removed anything that doesn't.
| App | Revenue impact | Brand protection | Optimization signal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kaching Bundles | AOV, sub conversion | — | Per-bundle conversion data |
| Loop Subscriptions | LTV via recurring | — | Subscription cohort behavior |
| UpCart | Cart conversion lift | Trust badges, payment icons | Cart abandonment data |
| Zipify OCU | AOV via post-purchase | — | Upsell conversion data |
| Parcel Panel | Lower CS load = lower refunds | Hides China origin, audit protection | Fulfillment timing |
| ChargeFlow | Deflected chargebacks | Saves the processor relationship | Dispute pipeline |
| Microsoft Clarity | Indirect via CRO | — | The whole conversion funnel |
No app earns its day-one slot unless it hits at least one of these columns hard.
What's NOT in the stack (yet)
Apps I add later, not on day one:
- Reviews app — added in week 2-4 once social proof matters
- Email + SMS app — separate platform (Klaviyo / Postscript), not Shopify-side. Cross-reference Module 4 → Email Marketing
- Analytics apps beyond Clarity — Shopify native + Meta + Google Analytics covers 95% of what I need
- Shipping protection — added once order volume justifies the math
- Page builder (GemPages, Replo) — used for advertorial pages, NOT day-one product page. Default Shopify product page is fine until you're customizing for specific funnel needs
- Inventory / fulfillment apps — handled externally by the fulfillment partner
- Custom translation apps — only if running international (Shopify Translate & Adapt is fine for most)
Don't add these on day one. They're optimizations, not the foundation.

- The cross-app integration sequence — Kaching + Loop + UpCart + Zipify OCU configured together on a real store
- The Liquid snippets for UpCart trust badges (Above Checkout + Below Checkout)
- The CS chargeback recovery script the team runs to deflect disputes (Module 2)
- The Claude prompt for processing Microsoft Clarity heat map exports into iteration roadmaps
- The Grunz 28-day rebill math demonstrated live on a real product
- The Disputely community rate ($14 per deflected chargeback vs $29 elsewhere) available to masterclass members
- Direct connections to alternative payment processors when Shopify Payments isn't an option
