What it does
The order tracking app you put on every store. Hosts a branded tracking page on your domain, syncs tracking numbers between your fulfillment partner and Shopify, sends shipping notifications to customers, and hides the part of the tracking journey that screams "this came from China."
App name: Parcel Panel (formerly I ran Track123 — I switched and haven't looked back).
Why I switched from Track123
I used Track123 originally. Parcel Panel does the same core job better:
- Cleaner backend — analytics are more usable
- Better customization of the tracking page
- More reliable sync to Shopify and your fulfillment data
- Less friction when you're trying to actually track problem orders
If you're already on Track123 and everything works, no need to migrate. If you're starting fresh: install Parcel Panel.
The setup that matters
Tracking page → add to your store menu
Parcel Panel pre-builds the branded tracking page. To make customers actually find it:
- Go to Add Tracking Menu → Main Menu
- Click Save
- The tracking link is now in your store's nav
This one click matters more than people realize — customers who can self-serve their tracking generate way fewer CS tickets.
Shipping notifications (selective use)
You'll get upsold to upgrade your plan to unlock the full notification engine. Worth it — but be selective about which notifications you turn on for yourself.
| Notification | Turn on for yourself? | Send to where? |
|---|---|---|
| Standard shipping updates (in transit, out for delivery, etc.) | ❌ No | Customer only |
| Failed delivery attempt | ✅ Yes — critical | Your CS email so the team can recover the order |
| Exceptions (customs holds, address issues) | ✅ Yes | CS email |
The principle: let the customer get the normal updates. You only get pinged when something actually needs your team's attention.

Drop shipping mode — TURN THIS ON
This is the most important setting in the app for most operators.
Drop shipping mode hides "China" from tracking page output when orders ship from Chinese suppliers. Without this enabled, customers see "Departed from facility in Shenzhen, China" on their tracking page — which immediately tanks trust on a non-Chinese-positioned brand.
With drop shipping mode on, the tracking page shows clean shipping status without revealing the origin country.
If your fulfillment is going through Chinese agents, this is non-negotiable. Turn it on before you take your first order.
Sync settings
Two settings to flip on:
- Update tracking link in Shopify: ✅ on
- Send tracking events to Shopify: ✅ on
Use Parcel Panel's native Shopify integration for the tracking events. If you try to layer this on top of another tracking app, you'll get duplicate events firing to Shopify. Use one app's native sync — not both.
Order tracking dashboard
Once configured, Parcel Panel automatically syncs every order's tracking data into a single dashboard. Watch this dashboard regularly:
- If you're testing a new shipping line → check delivery times daily
- If you're testing a new 3PL or fulfillment partner → check delivery times daily for the first 2 weeks
- For any brand at scale → check weekly for stuck-in-customs orders
Don't get caught lacking with all your orders stuck in customs and no idea. Parcel Panel's dashboard is your early warning system. Use it.
EDD (Estimated Delivery Date) — partial setup
I don't run the EDD widget on product pages or checkout (causes more problems than it solves). But I do put it on the tracking page so customers have a clear expectation post-purchase.
The setup:
- Languages shipment status: ✅ activate
- Calculate EDD from: Order created date + Order cutoff + Transit time
- Shipping time: 6-13 days is realistic for most drop-ship-from-China operators. Don't promise faster than you can actually deliver.
The supplement-specific tweak
For supplement brands specifically: add a custom status step right after "Order Ready" called something like:
- "Quality Check"
- "Batch Testing"
- "Final Inspection"
This sits between "Order Ready" and "Shipped" and gives you 1-3 days of natural buffer on slow shipping. Customers see a legitimate-sounding step happening instead of wondering why their order hasn't moved.
It's a small piece of expectation management that pays off in reduced CS tickets and chargeback prevention.
Custom tracking info
Use the Custom Tracking Info field to add any brand-specific messaging to the tracking page — "Need help? Email us at..." or "Track your subscription at..." — depending on what your CS flow is.
Plan upgrade — get to Essential or Professional
The free plan is too limited for any operator running real volume. Upgrade to Essential or Professional minimum.
The plans unlock:
- Notification customization (the failed-delivery email routing covered above)
- EDD configuration on the tracking page
- Custom status step insertion (the supplement quality-check tweak)
- Higher tracking volume limits
At $20-50/mo for the plan, it pays for itself in reduced CS load on the first day.
The transparency principle
The overall philosophy on order tracking:
Be upfront with customers about everything — except the part that comes from China.
- ✅ Show them where their order is
- ✅ Show them estimated delivery dates
- ✅ Allow them to email you with questions
- ✅ Give them a self-serve tracking page
- ❌ Don't show them "Shenzhen, China" in the tracking timeline
When customers feel informed, they don't email you. When they don't email you, your CS load drops 30-50%. The tracking page IS your customer support strategy for 80% of orders.
The Shopify audit benefit
This is the underrated benefit of running Parcel Panel properly:
Shopify audits stores periodically to check if they're actually shipping orders. If they detect a high rate of unfulfilled orders or fake tracking, they freeze your payouts and can shut down your merchant account.
Parcel Panel's tight integration with Shopify means every tracking event you sync becomes evidence that you're actually shipping. Your Shopify native order tracking populates correctly. Your fulfillment timestamps are clean.
If Shopify audits your store and your tracking is well-synced, you're fine. If your tracking is sparse or fake, you're cooked.
This is a real risk most operators don't think about until it's too late. Set up Parcel Panel properly from day one and the audit problem solves itself.
